Skin Diving is a popular activity in many modern island cultures.  Below, a skillful skin diver displays his catch. Octopus vulgaris.

  • This image was captured off the southern coast of Oahu, in approximately 60 ft of water.
  • Octopus is commonly known as "tako" in Hawaii.
  • Free diving requires the athlete to hold his/her breath underwater for an extended amount of time.
  • Certain areas of oahu are off limits for spearfishing to help preserve our unique ocean ecosystems.
